The official Guinness World Records (GWR) handle often shares thrilling and exciting videos of record-breaking feats. This time, they posted a video of a man holding a yoga pose for almost 30 minutes long.

Yash Mansukhbhai Moradiya – an Indian yoga teacher in Dubai, held this pose (vrschikasana or scorpion pose) for 29 minutes and four seconds. Surprisingly, this 21-year-old tennis player broke his own previous record of 4 minutes 47 seconds.

GWR shared this post to celebrate International Yoga Day celebrated on June 21 around the world. “Longest scorpion hold time was 29 minutes 04 seconds by Yash Mansukhbhai Moradiya,” GWR wrote while sharing the video on Instagram.

Through a blog post, GWR mentions Moradiya achieving this record title as a personal achievement as well as to raise more awareness about yoga. Further in the blog post, GWR says that Moradiya managed to set this record on February 22 this year, which makes it all the more special. When mentioned or read in the widely used date format, the record will appear as 2/22/22, which is a palindrome.

The yoga teacher started his journey in this discipline when he was 8 years old. He started practicing yoga regularly in 2010 and even ventured into strength yoga. The 21-year-old yoga teacher told GWR he trained for two years before making the record. Moradiya spent the extra time he got during the COVID-19 lockdown perfecting vrschikasana and increasing the length of time he was able to hold it.

Since being shared, the video has received more than 1,100,000 views. Many people congratulate Moradiya for this achievement while others share their experiences doing this asana.
