FX has released the first trailer for the upcoming fourth and final season of Donald Glover’s comedy series Atlanta.
Set in Sault’s “Bitter Streets”, the trailer has no dialogue, implying a return to the Georgia capital for Earn (Glover), Alfred ‘Paper Boi’ Miles (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield) and Van (Zazie) Beetz). Much of Season 3 was filmed in Europe while Paper Boi and his crew were on tour. The Diary for Season 4 begs the question, “Has Atlanta changed or has it changed?”
Season 4 will premiere in September.
FX President John Landgraf revealed in February that Season 4 would be the final installment of the series. Season 3 premiered in March after a 4-year hiatus and the final two seasons were filmed continuously.
Donald Glover’s series has won a total of five Primetime Emmy Awards since its debut in 2016, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Director in a Comedy Series. in 2017. In 2018, the FX comedy also won for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Camera Series (Half an Hour) and Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series comedy or drama (half an hour) and animation.
