Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the wife of conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, could be forced to testify about her role in the January uprising. 6, according to Rep. Liz Cheney, vice chairman of the committee investigating the events surrounding the attack on the US Capitol.

In an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, the Wyoming Republican said the committee is talking to Ginni Thomas’s attorneys and urging her to cooperate.

“We certainly hope that she will agree to voluntarily participate, but the committee is fully prepared to consider a subpoena if she doesn’t,” Cheney said. “I hope it doesn’t get to that point. I hope she joins voluntarily.”

“It was very important for us to talk to her,” Cheney said.

Thomas was one of many people the congressional committee sought information on while investigating Jan’s events. 6, 2021. Earlier this year, NBC News and other media outlets obtained a series of messages that Thomas allegedly sent to former President Donald Trump, Chief of Staff Mark Meadows supporting the false claim that 2020 presidential election has been stolen.

Thomas is said to have encouraged Meadows to overthrow President Joe Biden’s election victory.

When news outlets predicted Biden would be the winner of the November 10 election, Thomas wrote to Meadows: “Help this great President stand, Mark!!! … You are home leaders, along with him, who are supporting America’s constitutional governance. Most know Biden and the Left as the greatest Heist effort in our history.”

Cheney and the rest of Jan. Committee 6 has also tried to persuade others close to Trump or with access to the White House to come and testify about the events of that day – in some cases, without success.

Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon was found guilty on Friday of two counts of contempt of Congress following a federal trial in Washington, DC, after he refused to cooperate with Jan. 6 subpoenas by the commission.
