WhatsApp working on feature to let users report status updates
San Francisco: Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will give users the ability to report status updates on the desktop beta.
The new feature will allow users to report status updates right in a new menu in the status section, WABetaInfo reports.
If users see any suspicious status updates that may violate the Terms of Service, they will be able to report the update to the moderation team using the new option.
Similar to report messages, status updates will be forwarded to the company with the pretext of moderation so they can see if there is a violation.
However, this feature does not break end-to-end encryption.
No one, not even WhatsApp and Meta, can see the content of users’ messages and listen to their private calls, but it is important for the company to provide a reporting option to keep the platform safe. and users.
The report says the ability to report status updates is under development and will be released in a future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta.
Meanwhile, last month, the messaging platform rolled out a new feature to some beta testers, allowing users to view profile pictures in desktop group chats.
