WhatsApp rolls out picture-in-picture mode on iOS beta
Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has started rolling out picture-in-picture mode for video calls on iOS beta.
Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has started rolling out picture-in-picture mode for video calls on iOS beta.
The new feature is available to some beta testers who installed the latest WhatsApp beta update to iOS 22.24.0.79 from the TestFlight app, as reported by WABetaInfo.
It allows users to use other apps while making video calls on WhatsApp.
When you multitask with other apps, a picture-in-picture view appears immediately if this capability is enabled for your account.
Users can also choose to temporarily disable video call view as it involves using the official iOS API (Application Programming Interface).
This feature may only work on iOS 16.1 and later, so it could be one of the features that will be enabled by an update that adds official support to iOS 16.
The new feature will be released to more users in the coming days, the report said.
Meanwhile, last week, the messaging platform began rolling out a new feature to some iOS beta testers, giving users the ability to search messages by date.
This feature allows users to easily jump to a certain date in the chat.
