UIDAI urges everyone with old Aadhaar card to update their documents
While updating the residential address can be done online, updating other demographic details will have to be done at the Aadhar registration centre.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is advising everyone to update their Aadhaar. For those who have an Aadhaar card of ten years or more, it’s time to update their documents. This comes after a recent announcement by the Ministry of Electronics & IT. In the notice, the ministry said that Indian residents who have not updated their Aadhaar for a long time, must take the necessary steps to have accurate information in the Government database.
Those who wish to update their Aadhaar can do so, both online and offline. Updating the residential address can be done online in the Self-Service Update Portal (SSUP). To update all other demographic details, one will have to visit the nearest Aadhar enrollment center. These other demographic details include name, gender, date of birth, email ID, and contact number. Updating bio data will also have to be done at Aadhar enrollment centre. Biometric metrics include fingerprints and iris scans.
To update Aadhar online, one will have to visit UIDAI official website (uidai.gov.in). After accessing the official website, one will be able to find the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab. Below that, there will be an option called ‘Update Demographics and Check Status.’ Once logged in, you will find an option to update Adhaar online. Certain steps will be covered. Do the same to get to the payment gateway. Make payment of Rs. 50 and update your address.
