New Google Chrome Update allows lag free performance even with multiple open tabs

Google Chrome is probably the most used web browser by computer users around the globe. The browser is used by students, professionals as well as the general public for their daily use. However, users may notice that if many Chrome tabs are open, computer performance will slow down. This happens because many Chrome tabs use a lot of memory and eventually slow down your computer.

However, after the latest Chrome update, this should no longer be an issue as Google is adding two new features – Memory Saver and Browser Power Saver Android Police reports.

Memory Saver mode will hibernate the Chrome tabs that are least used by users. This will lead to low memory usage of the computer. Whenever this mode is active, the user will be able to see a gauge icon on the right hand side of the address bar. After a period of time when the user returns to the hibernate page, they will find the popup in the specific tab. The pop-up tab will show how much RAM is freed up. There are certain customizations in this feature. Users can also select features for certain websites, if they don’t want them to hibernate.

On the other hand, Power Saver mode disables high refresh rates, visual effects, and limits background activity. This will extend your computer’s battery life in the long run. However, the changes mentioned above are now live on Google Chrome Canary. For those who don’t know, Chrome Canary is an experimental version of the browser and is built for developers. It is not yet known when the update will be available to general users.

The feature mentioned above will be useful for Chrome users who use an old computer or laptop. New laptops/computers experience less lag due to the many tabs on Chrome because they have large onboard RAM to tackle tasks. However, older computers have less RAM and are prone to slow down. These two updates on Google Chrome have the potential to eliminate the lag headache on Chrome.
