Google has started to roll out passkey support in Chrome

San Francisco: Tech giant Google has started rolling out passcode support in Chrome with M108 Stable version for extra security.

The tech giant said in a blog post on Thursday that passwords are a more secure alternative to passwords and other fraudulent authentication factors.

They are more secure because they cannot be reused, do not leak in server breaches, and protect users from phishing attacks.

Passwords are generated according to industry standards and can work on different operating systems (OSs).

They can be used with both websites and apps that support them.

To log in with a password, the user will be asked to authenticate themselves the same way they unlock the device.

“With the latest version of Chrome, we are enabling passcode on Windows 11, macOS and Android,” the company said.

“On Android, your passwords will be securely synced through Google’s Password Manager or any other password manager that supports passwords,” it added.

Users can also choose to use a confirmation code from a nearby smartphone on a desktop device.

The securely generated code is exchanged with the website so nothing can be leaked.

In October, Google rolled out keycode support in Chrome Canary, an experimental version of the tech giant’s browser.
