Elon Musk ‘reinstates’ Donald Trump on Twitter
Based on a poll, Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Sunday announced that former US President Donald Trump has been allowed to rejoin Twitter.
San Francisco: Based on a poll, Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Sunday announced that former US President Donald Trump has been allowed to rejoin the microblogging platform.
Musk tweeted: “Everybody has spoken. Trump will be reinstated.”
He added “Vox Populi, Vox Dei”, which means “the voice of the people is the voice of God”.
Several users expressed their thoughts on Musk’s decision. One user asked: “Not saying I object to the decision, but what happened to the fact that none of the main accounts were reinstated before the board convened?”
“Twitter will form a content moderation committee with diverse views. No material decisions on content or account recovery will happen before that panel convenes,” Musk replied.
Meanwhile, another user commented: “I thought you said something like this would be done by a special committee, not a poll.”
Musk on Saturday began polling to find out how many of his more than 117 million followers support or reject a move to reinstate Trump on the platform.
Twitter’s new CEO said the poll received a whopping 1 million votes an hour.
“Interesting to see Trump’s Twitter poll. The bot attack is impressive to watch,” Musk tweeted.
