‘The Bachelorette’: Erich Breaks Silence On Texts He Sent An Ex Before Filming

Gabby Windey and Eric Schwer got engaged in Mexico while filming Bachelorette in May, but a lot can happen in four months! This couple appeared live on After the last rose on September 20th to discuss where things are now. The appearance comes after a number of public drama for Erich, including a reconstructed blackface photo from his high school yearbook and accusations from an ex that he just broke up with her to continue his career.

In After the last rose, Gabby and Erich appeared in person for the first time as an engaged couple, and couldn’t be happier. However, they still dealt with the things that had arisen about Erich. Jesse Palmer frankly asked Erich about the text messages he sent his ex before the show, where he said that Bachelorette “Not real” and that he was just continuing to develop his career.

“I followed the path of cowardice [with my ex],” explains Erich. “I took on this girl and used the show as an excuse not to confront her about our relationship. I don’t see a future, but we’re having a lot of fun, and it’s easy to have fun instead of making the difficult decision of telling her it won’t last. I think all of this is a testament to the fact that I’m the last to be expected to be on this show. I came here just hoping to get through the night and see what happens. I watched an episode before starting and was just learning it when I got there. “

Erich says that everything changed when he met Gabby and started getting to know her. “I just want to spend more time with this person and see where it goes,” he continued. “It’s crazy to see the progress from [me] like, ‘Whatever’, fall in love and end up as happy as possible. I won’t change anything. If I could do it a million times, I would. One thing I apologize for is the beginning of it. I want to own that. But I love this girl with all my heart. It’s 100% real. I never expected that and I want this forever”.

Gabby supports her fiancé, although she admits that things have been “difficult” at times in their relationship. She confirmed that Erich told her about the text messages long before they were made public. “He wasn’t just thinking about himself and hoping he could skate,” Gabby said. “He is thinking about me. I think, along the way, it was difficult, but our communication got better and he was polite and honest. I believe what he said. Does not say [he] was right in [his] action – [he] for her it’s a hole** and I’ve told him that before. But his honesty and willingness to take responsibility is all I could ask for and what I want in a partner. When you say yes to spend the rest of your life with someone, it’s not going to be easy, so we just do our best to make it work. “
