Stephen Colletti Says Kristin/Lauren Love Triangle On ‘Laguna Beach’ Made His ‘Blood Boil’

Stephen CollettiThe 36-year-old didn’t say much when he talked about the “love triangle” that is said to have made a standout plot in his hit MTV reality series Laguna Beach. On the most recent episode of Back to the Beach with Kristin and Stephen podcast, the duo previously reflected on the revolutionary portrayal of the dynamic between his then-girlfriend Kristin Cavallari35 years old and co-star Lauren Conrad36.

“I had a big problem with this because look, they obviously made this show around this love triangle and there were moments where you and I broke up and they got to know Lauren and I connected and became very good friends,” he recalls in the podcast, via EVERYONE.

“And, obviously, you know, things happened at certain times. But never whenever we’re together, you know, I’m going to give you up that way. And they actually draw [it like] that’s what I’m doing throughout the show – which I have a big problem with.”

Stephen has admitted that he had to hand it over to the producers because of what he calls “the genius of [the show’s] edit. You have to hand it over to them, they really built this plot in a way that I think is what keeps the audience really hooked.” He also said that the show’s show of motivation, often staged by producers to elicit a certain response, had “his blood boiling a bit”.

Kristin agrees with her assessment. “It’s like they’ve decided to just put us in a box and they’re not going to stray from that for the whole season,” the recently divorced reality icon explained. “Like, they decided, ‘Okay, this is how we’re going to make Stephen look. And I don’t care what’s really going on in his life, we’ll just keep building that house and keep coming back to that same storyline. ‘”

Lauren finally moved on from the 2004-2006 TV series and got married William Tell back in 2014, while Kristin was married and divorced Jay Cutler.
