‘Cheers’ Star Shelley Long, 73, Seen In Very Rare Sighting Walking Dog: Photos

Shelley Long made a rare appearance when she stepped out with her adorable dog in Los Angeles. The Congratulations icon, now 73, was spotted walking her sweet chihuahua on Wednesday, October 19 in casual attire in a cozy pink turtleneck. She wears a black vest over it, paired with a pair of comfortable gray sweatpants. Shelley completed her look with a low-cut baseball cap and smart sneakers, as well as a pair of wire-framed glasses in the images obtained by New York Post. Almost exactly a year ago, she was seen taking a similar walk with the puppy.

Shelley is best known for playing the lovable but obscure waitress Diane Chambers on Congratulations, she starred from 1982 – 1987. Notably, Long left the series after five seasons, however, the iconic show continued to run for 11 years – finally ending in 1993. She won an Emmy in 1983 for her performance in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and earned five additional nominations for her memorable role as Diane. She reprises the role in the spinoff Frasier main character Kelsey Grammer, in 1995 (won her one of five Emmy Award nods). In addition to recognition for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Shelley has one of two Golden Globe Awards for Congratulations.

The show also featured Kelsey, Ted Danson, Woody Harrelson, Kirstie’s Alley, Rhea Perlman, just celebrated its 40th anniversary. While fans love a reboot, Shelley has previously shared that she doesn’t think it will be in the cards. “I don’t think anyone in the cast of ‘Cheers’ will ever want to do it again,” she said. ABC News. “We were lucky enough to have each other and have those writers, and Jimmy Burrowsproducer and director…[the creators] All are geniuses. It’s just an amazing collection of super talented people. I don’t know how or why it happened, but it was really something special. “
