Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox Reveals The Biggest Difference In His Songwriting & Performing As A Solo Artist (Exclusive)
Life is a highway and Gary LeVox riding it alone! The country singer began her solo career last year with the release of her first solo EP, One on one in May 2021. Now, he’s back with ‘Get Down Like That’, an upbeat country piece co-written by Gary, Thomas Rhett and Jon Pardi. “It can be really hard to find a beat that has great lyrics and really interesting meaning that describes my lifestyle, but that’s what we did,” says Gary. HollywoodLife.com in an EXCLUSIVE interview. “I just love it! It’s very attractive and I think it will be great by the end of summer. It was rockin’. “
Gary admits his songwriting “protocol” is the same as when he was in a trilogy, but he “sees things differently in a melodic way”. “When you’re in a band, I have three opinions on how we should do it and all that because we run a business together. Now, it’s just me, so I can only say, ‘I like this,’ ‘Let’s do this,’ ‘Put a harp on this,’ just make the decisions for yourself. My body was absolutely amazing,” he explains. “I just love telling stories with music and I went back to the songs I wrote in the past that we passed on, and felt like Now I can give them life.”
As for performing solo, Gary revealed that it’s a bit “different” to not have Jay & Joe Don “above,” but playing live shows these days has felt “unbelievable.” “We just got to go up there and swing and get the chance to show the kind of show we want to go see and give people 90 minutes of rest in life to enjoy,” he told HL.
The singer went on to reveal that his upcoming year will be filled with tours and new music. “I just have a boom, make music, perform and just do what we do!”
