Prince Harry is said to have been “devastated” after discovering his grandmother’s initials, Queen Elizabeth IIwas stripped of his military uniform before the vigil for the late king on Saturday (September 17), according to Sunday Times. The Duke of Sussex is said to be so “heartbroken” that he has considered wearing civilian clothes instead of his uniform.

As Personal Assistant in the Queen’s Camp, Harry previously wore initials on his uniform. However, since he was no longer a working royal after retiring from the mission, the cypher was dropped as a dress code. There is speculation that this move upsets Harry because Prince Andrew, who is also no longer a working royal, was given permission by the Queen’s children to keep their initials during Friday’s vigil. Furthermore, Harry’s brother, Prince Williamalso has the initials intact, which seems to make it a bit awkward between the couple, who already have a strained relationship.
After choosing his uniform at Buckingham Palace, Harry considered wearing a civilian “mourning suit” to avoid “humiliation”, a friend of Harry’s told the outlet. “He was heartbroken,” the friend added. “Deleting his grandmother’s initials feels very intentional.”

The fact that Prince Harry wore a military uniform was surprising news, as he has worn civilian clothes at previous events in honor of the Queen. In Of King Charles III upon request, Prince Harry was allowed to wear his military uniform for a special ceremony attended by all of the Queen’s grandchildren, including Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsorand James, Viscount Severn. The move is another sign that King Charles III is looking to reconcile with his young son.
For the cold relationship between Harry and his wife Meghan Markle and William and his wife Kate Middleton, there seem to be improvements. The quartet reunited earlier in the week outside Windsor Castle, greeting onlookers paying their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II. In a statement from Buckingham Palace, a royal spokesman said William, who is now known as the Prince of Wales, “has invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join him and the Princess of Wales. Wales” for the walkabout game.
