Oakland School Shooting: At Least 6 Badly Injured In Horrific Tragedy, Officials Say

At least six people were injured in a shooting at a school in Oakland, California on Wednesday, September 28, reports USA TODAY. All six people were transported to local hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds, according to a spokesman for the Oakland Fire Department. Michael Hunt. The shooting took place at the Sojourner Truth Independent Study, a campus building with no students. Three schools on the Fontaine Street campus, Rudsdale Continuing and New to Rudsdale High Schools as well as BayTech Charter School, offer grades K-12.
Today’s gun violence at Sojourner Truth is heart-wrenching – our schools are places of protection for our children. Our investigators report that all six victims were adults + currently receiving treatment for their injuries at the hospital. The scene is clear + all the children are being reunited with their families.

The shooting happened shortly after 1 p.m., a spokesman for the Alameda County sheriff’s office said Lieutenant Ray Kelly Talk to LA time. Mayor of Oakland Libby Schaaf reported that all the victims were adults and that the school was “all clear”. She also revealed all the unharmed students are being reunited with their families.
There are no updates on the shooter’s location. Based on News ABC7Lieutenant Kelly said the shooting was “probably a targeted event.”
