In the video, Lea lip-syncs a famous audio clip of Kim Kardashian from an old episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians, where the makeup mogul tries to stay positive while visibly upset on holiday. “That’s great… but wait, can you talk for a bit?” The actress reappears in front of the camera. Lea took aim at the illiterate rumors by captioning TikTok, “Call Jonathan to read me my first TikTok comments,” which seems to be a reference to her BFF. Jonathan Groff.
Earlier in the week, Lea responded to the rumors in an interview with New York Times. While Lea insists she’s afraid reacting to the rumors will only add fuel to the fire, the actress wants to address the outrageous claim frankly. “I go to ‘Glee’ every day; I know my lines every day,” she told the outlet. “And then there was a rumor on the internet that I couldn’t read or write? So sad. It really is like that. I often think if I were a man, a lot of cases wouldn’t happen.”
