Kenny Loggins Admits He Was ‘Blown Away’ By Lady Gaga’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Ballad

Top Gun: Maverick continues to resonate at the box office after 3 months since the grand debut. The highly anticipated sequel is currently the sixth highest-grossing film of all time in the United States. Top Gun: Maverick characteristic of Kenny Loggins hit “Danger Zone”, the film became a craze when the first film was released in 1986.

“It’s really fun to be a part of this phenomenon again,” said Kenny HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVE while promoting the recent Digital release of the film. “It was exciting to see it move around me and see the streaming numbers increase. It’s nice to see that and I can be in the game for a little bit longer.”

Kenny’s “Danger Zone” is part of the soundtrack, along with Lady Gaga’s “Hold my hand.” The song was the lead single of the sequel. Kenny admitted that he was “blown away” the first time he heard Gaga’s song.

“I was really surprised at how great her song came out. I don’t know why I was surprised but didn’t expect such a ballad,” Kenny said. “It was a very old school ballad format, and she nailed it. It’s a powerful thing, and it works really well on screen, and I think in some respects it’s better than a hit single, which I don’t know how far it has risen on the charts. . But as the movie gets closer, it feels like a perfect ending. And what a voice. I am always blown away by what she can do with her voice.”

Kenny admits that Top Gun: Maverick definitely has that nostalgic element and really accepts the importance of the soundtrack as many 80s movies did. “There was a huge movement towards the rise of ’80s music and satellite channels. Every young person I know about music is immersed in 80s music, and I think that’s interesting. I’m not exactly sure why. I’m glad it’s happening because I was there…”

He added, “I think there’s a lot of energy around ’80s music, especially when it comes to movies because nobody’s done it before. Rock and roll is not an accepted music format for movies unless you have a rock and roll movie. When it first started happening at the beginning with Caddyshack and Footloose, the videos have been broadcast a lot on MTV, which is also a new format, because the movie companies have poured a lot of money into making great videos. It’s the best way to sell soundtracks, and it works like a charm. I think the combination of those two elements: pop music with pop movies, if you will, has really made those movies iconic. “

Singer-songwriter recently released her memoir Still fine. He calls his memoirs “a combination of therapy and deposition.” He revealed, “It’s been a two-year process for me and it’s really an interesting balancing act of wanting to tell the truth completely and at the same time not angering my ex-wives.”
