Joel McHale Announces ‘Community’ Movie Is Finally In The Works After 7 Years

Community Fans have just received the best news ever. Joel McHale confirmed on September 30 that a Community ongoing series, seven years after the beloved sitcom aired after six seasons. The show’s official Twitter wrote, “six seasons…” and Joel later tweeted, “AND ONE MOVIE,” referring to the full line of “six seasons and one movie” talked about at the beginning of the show. Diversity confirm that Community The movie will stream on Peacock.

Joel will be back for the movie with his old co-stars Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeongbased on Diversity. Not sure if Yvette Nicole Brown and Donald Glover are also making a comeback, though Joel tagged both of them in his tweet when he announced the big news. Creator Dan Harmon executive producer and film writer with Andrew guest. Joel is also an executive producer with Russ Krasoff and Gary Foster.
Peacock and Sony Pictures TV have secured the rights to Community film after negotiating “severe competition”, each Diversity. Peacock has also secured non-exclusive rights to all six seasons of Communitycurrently available on both Hulu and Netflix.

Joel told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVE about the possible Community film in May 2021, after the cast reunited in a virtual reading table the previous year. “If you told me over a year ago that there was a chance Community movie, I was like, ‘Yes, maybe,’ but after reading that board, we were like, ‘Oh, hey, look, we’re all here and we all like each other!’ “Joel told us. “To make a movie, you need – no matter how you cut it – you will need a little money to make the film,” he also said.
Community debuted on NBC in September 2009, ran for six seasons and said goodbye on Yahoo! 2014 screen after changing network. The sitcom follows a group of lovable misfits and their misdeeds at a community college in the fictional town of Greendale, Colorado.
