Michael Myers hasn’t seen the last of the Jamie Lee Curtis…but. As her longtime character Laurie Strode prepares to confront the famous killer once again in Halloween is over, fans are wondering how many times she has played the iconic, genre-defining “last girl” in the franchise. John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978)

Jamie defined an entire genre when she took on babysitting from hell in 1978. As Laurie Strode, Jamie fought hard to create a space in horror history, and she did. a formidable job. When Michael Myers escapes from the refugee camp and returns to fictional Haddonfield, Illinois on Halloween night, he faces an enemy whose will to survive is destined to torture him for decades to come.
The masked killer relentlessly hunts and kills each of Laurie’s friends, ultimately losing the final battle against the ferocious teenagers who truly hell want to protect the children she loves. She’s there to babysit. Trying his best, he is unable to kill Laurie, and falls off the balcony after being shot by psychiatrist Loomis (Donald Pleasence). Of course, he escapes into the inky blackness of Halloween night, to kill people again and again.
Jamie is known for being one of the first women to portray the “last girl” in the oddly beloved horror film. Based on Fandomdirector Carpenter chose her in tribute to Alfred Hitchcock’s legendary horror film Mentalwith her mother involved, of course, Janet Leigh. Jamie is said to have been terrified that she would be dropped from the role. Instead, like her mother, she has been relegated to film history.
Halloween Extended Edition / TV Cut (1980)
Jamie’s Pumpkin and Knife Show really caught the eye. In 1981, she literally rewatched the original film for an extended cut that would air on television.
