Emily in Paris: Summary of part 1

The series begins with Emily Cooper landing her dream job in Paris. She was chosen to represent her marketing company abroad and lived in Paris because her boss was pregnant at the time. At first, Emily tries to form a long-term relationship with her boyfriend who lives in Chicago, but they quickly break up after she moves out.

Emily meets new friends as she begins to settle down in Paris. She becomes close with Mindy, Camille, and handsome chef Gabriel. It didn’t take long for Emily to develop feelings for Gabriel as their friendship developed. Just before Gabriel was about to move to Normandy to open a restaurant, they hooked up.

Gabriel did not move to Normandy and stayed in Paris to open his own restaurant. Emily quickly realizes that she doesn’t want to dent her friendship with Camille, who is in an unrepeatable relationship with Gabriel himself, so Emily stops anything romantic with Gabriel. Season 2 starts right where the first season left off. Emily stays in Paris and makes the decision that she can’t date Gabriel because of his relationship with Camille. However, Camille finds out they have sex and becomes angry with Emily. Since officially single again, Emily began dating Alfie, a French businessman classmate.

When it comes to her work with Savoir, there’s plenty of drama for Emily as well. Madeline travels to Paris and conflicts with quite a few people. Pierre left the company, followed by Sylvie at the end of the season. Sylvie decided to open her own agency. This leaves Emily torn about whether to stay with Savoir or join Sylvie at her new company.

Despite her new love affair with dashing Alfie, Emily’s feelings for Gabriel remain. Alfie has to return to London but tells Emily that he wants to make a long distance relationship work. Emily confesses to Mindy that she still loves Gabriel, even after she makes peace with Camille.

In the season 2 finale, Emily goes to Gabriel’s place to tell him she loves him but finds out that he’s back with Camille. Emily was in tears after leaving. The season ends when Emily calls Sylvie about her future. “I made my decision,” she said.
