Elisabeth Moss revealed that the team behind her hit series The story of the maid there are key discussions about the issues reflected in the show as many have compared with Gilead and the backward United States after the Supreme Court overthrew Roe V. Wade. Elisabeth opened up about the importance of those discussions in an interview on See on Monday, September 26.
Co-host Sara Haines points out the comparisons politicians have made to the series, as well as protesters dressing up as characters to express their feelings about the fight for reproductive rights. “After the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade case, the show was more relevant than the others,” she said.

Elisabeth admitted that there is both “professional experience” and “personal experience” that the show’s team brought with them when they made the Hulu series, which is currently in its fifth season, and she revealed that they wish that The program is not so reliable. “We wish this was a crazy sci-fi movie — like, “I can’t believe this. This will never happen. ‘ That would be a lot more fun for us, and that would be a lot more fun to do and a lot more fun to talk about,” she commented.
From a personal perspective “as a woman, as a citizen and as a person”, Elisabeth revealed that the crew had major discussions about issues while making the show. “We are telling this story through the lens of this woman, and this one character. There are a lot of different experiences from the people who work on the show, and so of course we have those conversations,” she said.

In the wake of SCOTUS overturning Roe, Elisabeth made a similar comment about the program’s execution after the decision. She revealed that emotions on set were “sad” after a leaked draft decided to reverse the landmark case in a May interview with Vanity Fair. “It’s not what excites us, when there are these similarities and when your character is used as an example of something happening in real life,” she said. “I wish it wouldn’t be relevant anymore.”
