Ed Sheeran Reveals He Was ‘Hurt’ After Being Replaced By Billie Eilish On James Bond Soundtrack

Ed Sheeran was outspoken about a rather important missed opportunity in his musical career. The “Shape Of You” singer, 31, revealed that he’s already started putting pen to paper for the above theme song. The opportunity was first presented to Ed when famed Bond producer Barbara Broccoli approached the singer in 2017, per Rolling stone. Barbara asked Ed to write the theme song and he just did it. “We did all the meetings, I started writing it,” he explains on the podcast.

However, the Covid-19 pandemic has thrown a wrench into the works. And with the film’s music being the final piece of production done, every Rolling Stoneby the time of the theme song, the gears had been changed (including a director swap) and Billie was given the green light instead.

Ed said on the podcast: “I’m ready to do a gnat job. “But then they change the director, change the script and that’s it.”

However, Ed doesn’t get fired too much for this experience, as he has said he will still try to get a chance to write about the spying case. “But yeah, if they come back, of course I’ll be like that.”

If that happens, Ed will join Billie and a troupe of James Bond-themed hits such as Shirley Bassey (Diamonds are eternal1971), Paul McCartney & Wings (Live and let die1973), Tina Turner (Yellow eyes1995) and Nancy Sinatra (You only live twice1967).
