Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu’s mother passes away at 70
Hyderabad: Ghattamaneni Indira Devi, mother of Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu, passed away on Wednesday morning after a lengthy illness. She was 70.
Indira Devi, who has been receiving treatment at a top hospital in the city since last week, breathed her last at home.
She is survived by her husband and last year’s veteran Telugu star Krishna, her son Mahesh Babu and three daughters.
Her death is the second tragedy to hit the Ghattamaneni family this year. Her eldest son Ramesh Babu passed away earlier this year.
A whirlwind of grief enveloped the superstar’s home on Wednesday. Words of gratitude and condolences have begun to pour into the family on social media.
Tollywood Megastar Chiranjeevi was among the first to offer condolences to Mahesh Babu and Krishna. “Extremely saddened to hear of the death of Indira Devi garu. My deepest condolences to Superstar Krishna garu, brother Mahesh Babu, and family,” he tweeted in Telugu.
The big boys in the film industry have come to the house of the Ghattamaneni family to pay their respects to the deceased matriarch.
A family source said the funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon.
