‘Pathan’ controversy: Opposition in UP slams BJP

lucky: Even as the controversy over Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’ lead actor continues to rage, opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh have criticized the right wing and the ruling BJP on the matter.

Congress says that saffron is not a patent of one party or group.

“Some elements are using color for their guaranteed political gain. A color with no religion, no ideology,” said Parliament leader Udit Raj.

He also considers a part of the media to be narrow-minded and adds that instead of highlighting the basic problems of ordinary people, they deliberately raise those issues to divide society in the name of skin color and religion.

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Zafar Ameen Dakku said, “We should respect all skin colors and religions and a film should not cause controversy just to highlight it before its release.”

SP spokesman, Abdul Hafiz Gandhi, said that the right wing is deliberately raising such issues to divert attention from core issues related to people.

“Once the film has been approved by the Censor Board, there is no question about it,” he said.
