Within only 3 years since its official launch, the subsidiary of Korean car group Kia – Kia India has made a huge announcement. In an official statement, the company revealed that it has reached the huge milestone of surpassing the 50,000 sales mark nationwide. Kia launched the Indian market with the launch of the Seltos mid-size SUV in August 2019, and since then the company has continuously launched super models. Kia has also confirmed its name as the fastest car manufacturer to achieve this achievement.
Speaking about this achievement, Myung-Sik Sohn – Sales Director, Kia India said: “In our three short years in India, we have not only established ourselves as a trend-leading and inspirational brand. but also lead the adoption of new technology. I would like to attribute the success of Kia India to everyone who has been and is a part of the ecosystem. Most importantly, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our customers who have always trusted the brand even in adverse situations such as global supply chain problems. “
He added, “Today I am proud to say that we have earned a foothold in the hearts of Indian consumers and that is our greatest achievement. India remains India’s priority market, therefore 3 out of 5 products we supply domestically are not only produced domestically but are also exported to various global markets. India is a country with huge potential and we look forward to continuing to contribute to the growth of the manufacturing industry in India by continuously bringing our world class products and technologies. . “
The company added that the total number of units dispatched from the Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh has increased to 6,34,224. Currently, the Indian subsidiary of the Korean carmaker accounts for more than 6% of Kia Corporation’s global sales. The Seltos even three years after its launch is still Kia’s best-selling vehicle in its portfolio in India and has grown sales by 59%.
Coming in second on Kia’s bestseller list is the Sonet compact SUV, which accounts for more than 32% of Kia India’s total sales. Furthermore, within the first five months of its launch, MPV Carens also generated around 6.5% of the brand’s domestic sales. Although Kia’s luxury MPV model, Carnival, hasn’t released overall sales data, it still sells around 400 units a month nationwide.
In other Kia news, the company recently revealed the latest facelift of the Seltos in the international market and released a teaser video. The facelift of the Kia Seltos for the Korean market is featured in the video and it shows how the SUV has undergone some visual changes since its current form. The grille appears to be much larger than the current model, and the interior of the grille also has a unique design. Many other changes to the side and back have also been made. As for the powertrain reports have suggested that it will have the same features as the outgoing model.
