New Delhi: Like every other genre, sports movies hold a special place in our hearts. The sheer excitement and thrill of celebrating the victories of the lower tier teams is well worth watching. The sports drama represents the talents born of ordinary personalities that ultimately make them shine over time.

With that, a much-awaited sports movie, Shabaash Mithu hit theaters on Friday, recounting the journey of one of the biggest names in cricket, Mithali Raj. Mithali Raj is a world famous cricketer in women’s cricket and her story was introduced to the audience by Srijit Mukherji. Taapsee Pannu portrays the role of a cricketer.

The film focuses on Nelson Mandela’s efforts during the 1995 Rugby World Cup with a team becoming a vehicle to unite people divided by racism and tragic history.

3. Paan Singh Tomar – Netflix

The film tells the heartbreaking story of a man who, despite being an excellent athlete, is forced to become a dacoit due to unavoidable circumstances. The film stars legendary actor, the late Irrfan Khan in the lead role.

4. Mary Kom – Netflix

The film celebrates the story of Mary Kom, a champion boxer who has won many laurels for the nation over the years. Global star, Priyanka Chopra plays Mary Kom, however, the film was criticized for not having a Manipur-born actor in the role of Mary Kom. Chopra’s performance has blown away all criticism with her extraordinary performance that exudes grit, power and passion.

5. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story – Disney + Hotstar

The film stars the late Sushant Singh Rajput, playing the role of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The film recounts the cricketing journey of the Jharkhand man to become one of the top cricketers in Indian history.
